1.     PATHOLOGY

  • Performs morphologic studies particularly of opportunistic infections among immunocompromised patients

  • Develops staining procedure for early diagnosis of infectious tropical diseases

  • Performs immunohistochemistry studies of cytomegalovirus and other infectious diseases

  • Performs high performance liquid chromatography for in and out patients of the institute

  • Performs electron microscopic study of viral diseases and other emerging tropical diseases

  • Receives referral for the diagnosis of glomerulopathy, blood dyscrasias and difficult to diagnose lesion

  • Performs routine biochemistry and chemical microscopy

  • Clinical Laboratory Section:
Is the only laboratory in the Institute that is open for 24 hours and manned by Medical technologists on 12-hour shift. Hematology examinations done include CBC, hemoglobin, hematocrit, platelet count, retic count, erythrocyte sedimentation rate, red cell count, white cell count, differential count, bleeding time and clotting time, clot retraction time, peripheral blood smear, L.E. preparation, coagulation test like prothrombin time (protime) and activated prothrombin time, blood indices (MCV, MCH, MCHC), clinical microsocopy like urinalysis and body fluid examination like CSF cell count and differential count as well as specific gravity. In addition, after office hours, on weekends and holidays, when other laboratory of the Institute have closed for the day, the Clinical Laboratory does fecalysis, biochemistry, ABG determination, microbial culture & gram staining. It also serves as a clearing and receiving laboratory. All specimens that are to be done on other research laboratories pass through the Clinical Laboratory. In addition to the above-mentioned services, the staff participate in almost all the researches in the Institute.

  •  BLOOD BANK

(Lead Hospital of Muntinlupa City and part of Las Pinas and Laguna for National Voluntary Blood Services Program (NVBSP) of the Department of Health)

            -  Caters to all its satellite hospitals south of Manila in their blood needs
